Restaurant Supervisor

Old Vines Restaurant is seeking a Restaurant Supervisor to join the growing management team.   The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all guests are welcomed upon arrival, manage the floor throughout service and develop and lead staff.  There may be some administrational tasks required however the focus of the position is to be a visible and present force in Old Vines’ Restaurant, representing the Quails’ Gate brand at all times and provide an outstanding service example to all team members and guests.

The ideal candidate will be flexible to work a combination of days, evenings and weekends, as required. As we operate in a fast-paced environment, we are looking for someone that will work well under pressure, has the ability to multi-task and takes initiative with a hands-on approach to problem solving. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess a positive ‘can do’ attitude when working with our guests and staff.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2- 3 years of management experience within a proven fine dining atmosphere and proven ability to lead group functions. They will have experience with inventory management and demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills.  In addition to leadership experience, we are also seeking an individual with solid wine knowledge; level 2 WSET or ISG level 2 certification or equivalent knowledge is required.

Restaurant Host

The Host conducts a range of tasks to enhance the overall customer experience.

In this essential role, the successful applicant has a positive and friendly attitude as he or she is responsible for a wide range of task:

  • Creating and managing restaurant reservations
  • Accurate and efficient input and management of information into Open Table
  • Manage and plan table assignments through open table and clear communication with other staff
  • Greeting guest and escorting them through the restaurant
  • Professional and pleasant phone etiquette
  • Recognize and take action on the details that lead to the improved dining experiences for all guest
  • Manage and address a high volume of guests in various group sizes

Fine Dining Servers

Servers are to ensure guests leave Old Vines Restaurant completely satisfied and eager to return.

Applicants must have previous experience serving in a fast paced, restaurant setting, with above average wine knowledge, WSET Level2 or equivalent. Fine dining experience preferred, technical service and wine service skills required. Above average food knowledge and general cooking techniques knowledge is required. Restaurant Manager

Our Old Vines Restaurant is designed to offer our guests the ultimate experience of wine and food in a spectacular vineyard setting.

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team in the role of Old Vines Restaurant as the Restaurant Manager reporting to the Director of Operations.

The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for the front of house service team; Servers, Hosts, and Bussers of Old Vines Restaurant.  In collaboration with the Culinary Director/Winery Chef, the Restaurant Manager will ensure each guest receives an excellent experience while visiting Old Vines Restaurant.  The Restaurant Manager will further be responsible for leading the front of house management team of Old Vines Restaurant and ensuring we achieve Quails’ Gates operational and financial goals.

Our successful applicant will be a natural leader and have an acute passion for customer service.  The candidate must also thrive in high pressure situations and have the ability to multi-task and take initiative. They must have previous hands-on technical service experience in a fine dining setting and be detail orientated and possess a positive ‘can do’ attitude.  Previous experience in a Winery restaurant an asset but not required however an advanced knowledge of Food, Wine and Spirits is required.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, preferably in a fine dining setting and posses an understanding of brand awareness, budgeting, planning, and be proficient with computers and technology, including POS systems.  Applicants must have the ability to work a flexible schedule such as weekends, holidays and varied shifts based on business volumes.

Intermediate Accountant

As our business continues to grow, so does our Accounting Department. We are seeking a permanent, full-time Intermediate Accountant responsible to provide accounting support for the finance function of the company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Accounts Payable, Inventory Management, and assist with Financial Reporting. In addition, we are looking for an individual who will become the internal resource for our POS and inventory management software. This is a ‘hands on’ accounting position who will be a liaison / support person between the accounting department and operations.

The ideal candidate will have formal education in accounting complimented by 2+ years’ experience in a similar role. Experience with inventory controls is a significant asset.

Previous experience with Accpac / Sage 300 ERP is beneficial. You will also be familiar MS Office products including Excel and Word, and be capable of handling a range of assignments with a calm focused approach, have excellent communication, time management skills with an eye for accuracy and detail.

Catering Sales Manager

Specific Accountability includes:

  • Work closely with the client and internal departments throughout the event ensuring clients expectations are met and exceeded every time
  • Achieve sales targets

Applicants should have successfully completed a diploma or degree in Sales, Event Management or related program complemented by 3-5 years’ experience in a catering / restaurant environment including execution of private and corporate events. Pastry Chef

 Our successful candidate will assume the position seasonal Pastry Chef. This position is responsible for managing the Pastry station and supervising 1-2 Pastry Cooks.  Pastry is responsible for production of all breads & pastry items, all plated desserts and special occasion items.  Pastry Chef duties include but are not limited to line service, staff leadership and inspiration, inventory and ordering.    Pastry Chef works amongst and in support of the ingredient inspired Culinary brigade.

Vineyard Workers

Quails’ Gate Vineyard Estate Winery is nestled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia. We are seeking 16 Vineyard Workers who will be responsible for pruning, tying, shoot positioning, canopy maintenance, fruit thinning, picking and other duties as requested by, or in conjunction, with, the Vineyard Supervisor. Previous experience in vineyard or orchard work is preferred but not mandatory.

Quails’ Gate Winery’s head office and main vineyard is located at 3303 Boucherie Road, West Kelowna, BC V1Z 2H3. There are additional vineyards throughout the Okanagan Valley.

Wage Rate: $11.00 per hour

We will need 11 workers from March 20, 2017 – August 30th, 2017

Cooks

Old Vines’ Restaurant offers an excellent venue to build a career in the culinary arts. Open year-round, opportunities exist for advancement and gaining knowledge of pairing wines with Okanagan cuisine. Working with the team at Quails’ Gate, you will create dishes around the local Okanagan bounty with ingredients sourced from surrounding fields and pastures, as well as regional British Columbia farms.

We are looking for experienced, talented, mature individuals to join our culinary team as Cooks.

Cooks will achieve the Quails’ Gate standard of culinary excellence, through food preparation and direct front line cooking of meals during service.  Cooks will be directly involved in food preparation, including soups, sauces, stocks, vegetables, and meats. Ensuring the line is prepared for service, and freshness of mis en place Pursuing or successful completion of a formal chef training program in addition to two-three years previous experience in a similar role, preferably in fine dining, as well as Level 1 Food Safe.
