2009 QUAILS' GATE GEWURZTRAMINER

Winemakers Notes:

Harvested from cooler vineyards in Central and South-East Kelowna in October in 2009. The clay and limestone soils, reminiscent of those in Alsace, give the wine a soft mineral character adding depth and power. Hand picked and whole bunch pressed prior to cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh flavours. Fermentation was stopped with some residual sweetness to balance the wine’s bracing acidity and add texture. The wine may be consumed now while the flavours are vibrant and fresh, though it will continue to evolve in the bottle and careful cellaring of 2-3 years will be rewarded.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of pear drops, luscious melon, lychee nut and cinnamon mingle with delicate rose petal notes. There is a natural fruit sweetness that fattens and adds weight to the juicy mid palate along with well balanced crisp acidity on the finish. This wine pairs nicely with Walla Walla onion tart or Thai and East Indian cuisine.
