2007 QUAILS' GATE OLD VINES FOCH

Winemakers Notes:

Named for the French World War I hero, General Ferdinand Foch, Marechal Foch grapes produce an intense and full bodied red wine. October 2007 from 25  year old vines in our Osoyoos vineyards. This site provides great heat during the growing season that gives very ripe, concentrated fruit which produced a classic Marechal Foch. Fermented to near dryness and aged in American oak barrels for 18 months, this wine will improve for up to 5 years. 

 

Tasting Notes:

Very dark and inky in colour, this wine has a rich powerful frame and texture with complex gamey aromas. Notes of dark fruits, and leather mingle with a savoury, sweet and sour palate. Gentle tannins and pure fruit sweetness create an elegant mouthfeel that compliments the intense colours and aromas. This wine makes a terrific accompaniment to braised lamb or a rich plate of pungent cheeses.
