Built in 1873, Allison House is the oldest home site in the West Kelowna area. It provides an important link to our past and to early European settlement in this valley.
Susan Allison has been recognized as a Person of National Historical Significance by the Government of Canada. As an author and historian, Susan documented her early days in the interior of British Columbia and her time at the Allison House. In tribute to her enduring spirit our family has made application to the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada to have the home designated as a Building of National Historical Significance.
The home of John and Susan Allison still welcomes visitors to Quails’ Gate. The house serves as the meeting place for our summer season winery tours; as well, guests can tour the home and enjoy the quaint gift and snack shop while learning about the early pioneering days in the Okanagan.
