Accolades

91 points – Beppi Crosariol (May 2013)
“I can’t remember ever not loving Quails’ Gate’s splendid chenin blanc, made with the grape responsible for France’s Vouvray. Well, that’s not quite right; actually, there is also 8-per-cent sauvignon blanc in the mix for added verve. The 2012 is brilliantly focused and dry, with citrus, pear, peach and tropical fruit framed by tangy acidity and a trace of stone. The winery recommends it for oysters and I can’t disagree, though it would be splendid with just about any light seafood or even young cheeses.”

90 points – John Schreiner (April 2013)
“Here is another zesty white wine that tastes good at a mere six months but will taste even better in a year or two when the racy acidity has settled down and the fruit is more expressive. It begins with appealing aromas of apple, lime and grapefruit. On the palate, it is absolute bowl of fruit – limes, lemons, papaya. The finish is crisp and refreshing. There is eight percent Sauvignon Blanc in this blend – as if Chenin Blanc needs help to express fruit.”

90 points – Daenna Van Mulligen (May 2013)
“Consistently one of my favourite BC white wines, the Quails’ Gate Chenin Blanc has beautiful notes of guava, pear and melon, honey and citrus blossoms with a smoky core. It’s a mouthwatering white that is tangy and has a clean, fresh palate dominated with zesty citrus flavours. It has a smoky/mineral character and very good length.”
