LAWN LEAGUE RETURNS

A NEW WAY TO PLAY. A NEW WAY TO SIP.

This May, the Lawn League returns to Quails’ Gate with an exciting new twist—pétanque! A relaxed yet spirited game best enjoyed with a glass of wine, pétanque is all about good company, great wine, and a little friendly competition.

No long-term commitment, no set teams—just book a court and play at your leisure, all summer long.

RULES OF PLAY

  1. Form Your Team: Play in pairs or small groups (2–6 players).
  2. Toss the Jack: One team throws the small wooden target ball (the “jack”) onto the court to begin.
  3. Take Your Shot: Teams toss their boules, aiming to land closest to the jack. You can strategically place your boule or knock opponents’ boules out of position.
  4. Scoring: At the end of the round, the team with the closest boule to the jack earns 1 point per boule closer than the opponent’s closest boule. Games are played to 13 points (or a friendly agreed-upon number).
  5. Sip & Socialize: Enjoy a glass of Quails’ Gate wine as you play—this is pétanque, Okanagan-style!
