Vineyard Field Crew Leadhand

Quails’ Gate Winery is nestled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia. Our 125 acre estate winery, located on the shores of Lake Okanagan, is owned and operated by the Stewart Family, pioneering horticulturists since the turn of the 20th century.

Due to our success and growth we are seeking a Field Crew Leadhand. The successful candidate will be responsible to direct the vineyard crew to complete assigned tasks meeting both time and quality guidelines.

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate loves to work outdoors (rain or shine), communicates well and comes to us with hands on vineyard (or agricultural) experience. The ideal person will lead by example and work hard to ensure each shift runs smoothly and efficiently. You understand the importance of teamwork and leadership.

Previous experience working in a vineyard and the ability to use the associated hand tools is an important pre-requisite along with a basic understanding of the life cycle of grapevines. We are looking for a natural communicator comfortable leading a small team. Basic Spanish would be an asset.

Tractor Operator

We are seeking an experienced individual to join the team in the role of Tractor Operator.  This position will involve spraying, mowing and associated vineyard duties.

The successful applicant will have a thorough understanding of the vineyard, mechanical aptitude, show initiative, have an excellent work ethic and hold a clean driving record.  Pesticide applicator certificate and Truck & Trail Operation (Restriction 20) would be an asset.  Opportunities for further training and advancement will be available.

Restaurant Manager

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team in the role of Old Vines Restaurant as the Restaurant Manager reporting to the Director of Operations.

The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for the front of house service team; Servers, Hosts, and Bussers of Old Vines Restaurant.  In collaboration with the Culinary Director/Winery Chef, the Restaurant Manager will ensure each guest receives an excellent experience while visiting Old Vines Restaurant.  The Restaurant Manager will further be responsible for leading the front of house management team of Old Vines Restaurant and ensuring we achieve Quails’ Gates operational and financial goals.

Our successful applicant will be a natural leader and have an acute passion for customer service.  The candidate must also thrive in high pressure situations and have the ability to multi-task and take initiative. They must have previous hands-on technical service experience in a fine dining setting and be detail orientated and possess a positive ‘can do’ attitude.  Previous experience in a Winery restaurant an asset but not required however an advanced knowledge of Food, Wine and Spirits is required.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, preferably in a fine dining setting and posses an understanding of brand awareness, budgeting, planning, and be proficient with computers and technology, including POS systems.  Applicants must have the ability to work a flexible schedule such as weekends, holidays and varied shifts based on business volumes.

Working with the team at Quails’ Gate, you will create dishes around the local Okanagan bounty with ingredients sourced from surrounding fields and pastures, as well as regional British Columbia farms.

We are looking for experienced, talented, mature individuals to join our culinary team as Cooks.

Cooks will achieve the Quails’ Gate standard of culinary excellence, through food preparation and direct front line cooking of meals during service.  Cooks will be directly involved in food preparation, including soups, sauces, stocks, vegetables, and meats. Ensuring the line is prepared for service, and freshness of mis en place Pursuing or successful completion of a formal chef training program in addition to two-three years previous experience in a similar role, preferably in fine dining, as well as Level 1 Food Safe.
